Album?

Joanna is back from Haiti so I hope she's working on the Reunion album. If you haven't already sent your pictures to her via CD, email, or FB? then Joanna mentioned a thumb drive would be good.

Thanks, Diane, for the Chinese Noodle Salad recipe. That will come in handy this summer.

Annie and David are moved to Tallahassee and I HATE it. I'm sure they would welcome visitors if any of you feel like a drive to the capital. Also, I will be all by myself here at the house this summer. I definitely would welcome visitors if any of you feel like stopping by! The beaches are a 15 min drive, cool refreshing pool just a few steps away, cable, internet, and wi-fi available, and finally beautiful rooms just waiting for visitors :-) Who can I expect and when?

WTG

Thanks to everyone for making this a fantastic weekend!  We had a great time hanging out with everyone and catching up after being gone for so long.  We missed Jay, Sara and Savanna but were happy that we successfully got almost everyone together for two entire days.  Don't be shy about visiting us in Tallahassee. Joshua will be happy to share his bedroom.  Hope everyone gets a chance to rest before going back to work.

This blog will remain under our reign if anyone wants to post in the future (photos, family news, planning the next Reichley fiasco, etcetera).  Hope everyone made it back home without any major events.

Wrap Up

I hope everyone has paid attention to the comments under each post as most of the volunteering and requests have been made in that manner. The excel list is complete with a few extras that really don't need to be updated...Mom has added some kites to her stash of goodies that she's planning to bring along. We're trying to keep her from packing the kitchen and buying more besides as everything has been accounted for!

Dad is hoping someone has a karaoke machine they can get stuffed into a car. Not that he plans to do any singing but thought it might be fun for some others! Always entertaining to suffer through a few "professional" artists.

Don't forget the detailed directions that Dad emailed to everyone as that has the lockbox code for the house keys. I won't post the details here as this is a public blog and I'm sure the homeowner would NOT appreciate that info made public. The codes are more for Mom/Dad or possibly David/Courtney as I expect you'll be the first to arrive.

At the moment, Brittany & I, (possibly Matt, possibly Rachel) will be driving out after work Thur and won't arrive till the wee hours. Mom & Dad (possibly Kaiyla, Noah, & Rachel) are trying to leave Thur morning so they arrive in the late afternoon. Annie & David with Joanna will arrive probably not as early as Mom & Dad. Unless Dad stops at every rest stop...then Annie will sleep in, hit the road around 2pm and still beat Mom & Dad!

Do you think I should bring the radios? We have the trusty four that the adults can use. Just in case we want to explore the island and bring the kids along. This way, if anyone gets lost...just radio in! 'Cause you know no one is coming back to find you!!! ;-D Just kidding, no radios...you're on your own.

Service the cars, get the laundry done, and start the packing...this is gonna happen!

General Supplies & Planning

Since it is Easter Weekend, we'd like to have a different family to volunteer for each evening (Thur, Fri, and Sat) to have a group spiritual activity appropriate for the day. Should be short, about 10- 15 minutes. We are looking for an outdoor sunrise service for Easter Sunday.

Everyone should bring their own beach towel, bathroom towel & washcloth, soap, laundry detergent if you think you will need to do laundry, toiletries, couple rolls toilet paper per family.

Everyone that has any, bring suntan lotion, beach toys, beach umbrella, lawn chair, favorite outdoor and indoor game, cards. Mom & Dad will be bringing the Catch Phrase!

One day or night we want to color Easter eggs (Thur night or Friday) and then we'll probably eat them for egg salad sandwiches or something the next day. Mom & Dad are bringing plastic eggs (and easter bags) for the Easter bunny to hide so please do not bring additional baskets/candy.

Fishing in SC: under 16 years of age is free. 14 day license: Resident is $5, Non-resident is $11

Bring some bug repellent for mosquitoes and for No-Seeums they say are sometimes a problem (avon bug spray/lotion?). Maybe several of those citronella candles for when we're out in one area together. Someone should also bring a first-aid kit (these are Reichley genes we're dealing with here)

As expected, there are NO GLASS CONTAINERS allowed on the beach.

Meal Plans

I'm going to list some considerations here for the days we'll need to have a meal or two. The plan is to have a couple volunteers to be responsible for each meal. Whether that is a family or a few people that bring different things to the meal. Realize that if you take responsibility for a main meal (a dinner) be sure you'll have the supplies to go with it (ie a cookout will need charcoal, lighter fluid, lighter, etc). Be specific in what you plan to bring/buy so that others can volunteer to contribute. There is a Piggly Wiggly and a gas station/gift shop on the island but the comments on the Edisto Beach forum have stated it's expensive (as it's the only grocery store around). You many want to bring the supplies/food from home, if possible, rather than buy it there. But we'll let you decide for your meal contribution...
Here are the suggestions so far (feel free to change it up/offer something different)
Generally speaking: Thurs night - Pizza Fri - Meatless Day Sat night - Cookout Sun - out by 10 am

Thursday dinner - Mom & Dad will furnish Pizza. Need sides ie salad, drinks

Friday Brkfast, lunch, dinner - Mac & Cheese, grilled cheese & soup, clam chowder, grilled fish, veg/fruit tray, salad, and drinks (these were just some ideas of meatless dishes for the day)

Saturday Brkfast, lunch, dinner - cookout for dinner (hamburger, hotdogs, buns, chicken), condiments, side dishes, drinks [Matt has volunteered to be the cook and David R can assist if Matt says so :-) ]

Breakfast suggestion: everyone bring a box of their favorite cereal. If anyone is interested in preparing a brkfast ie eggs, sausage, pancakes, waffles, casserole, etc please pick a morning and bring your supplies

Lunch suggestion: Left overs, PB& J, cold cuts - although we'll still need volunteers to be responsible for the food/prep

General Supplies: butter/salt/pepper/sugar/milk/creamer/coffee (reg & decaf)/iced tea (or lemonade)/juice/paper towels/napkins/paper plates/plastic cups/smores (we have the sticks)/foil/saran wrap/zip lock bags/garbage bags/dish soap, etc. A couple people to bring a cooler for the beach would be good. We can get ice at the store.

We'll need water jugs to be filled on the island and/or bottled water. The tap water has a bad taste for most people (like well-water).

Sleeping Arrangements

I simply looked at the list of available bedrooms and have listed people accordingly. Please don't feel that this can't be "re-assigned" if wanted/needed. The basic premise is that adults have first dibs on an actual bed. While the kids have been assigned to the room with their parents that may need to change and/or that may mean the kids are on an air mattress in that room. So here goes...
Upstairs:
Bedroom 1: Queen bed - Mom & Dad
Bedroom 2: Queen bed - Diane & Tony (with Brandon & Jay)
Bedroom 3: Queen bed - Annie & David (with Joshua)
Bedroom 4: Queen bed with top bunk, plus bunk (5ppl) - David's family
Downstairs:
Bedroom 5: Queen bed - Matt & Rachel (with Kaiyla & Noah)
Bedroom 6: Queen bed with top bunk, plus bunk (5ppl) - Jimmy & Megan, Katie, Joanna, Brittany [sorry Jimmy, you're stuck in the girls room :-)]

Be sure to comment if I have missed anyone. Mom/Dad will comment on the size and number of air mattresses they are planning to bring. I would suggest you bring a pillow if you have a favorite and so that we'll have extras for the air mattresses. Once we settle on the number and size of the air mattresses, we'll decide about the extra linens needed for them. The house beds already have linens provided.

Introduction

As I've been waiting and waiting for information regarding the reunion and have had to sit through 4 verbal discussions with nothing posted to this blog...I have been elected by Dad to post our discussions, comments, requests, and input. I will attempt to post under different titles to make it easier to find information. ie sleeping arrangement, meal plans, packing, etc. Nothing has been set and will probably need tweaking once we all arrive anyway so be assured that we are all ready to simply go with the flow of the weekend!
